Collection Instructions: The patient should not use powders or creams during the collection period. If the patient washes or uses the bathroom before the specimen is collected, it will decrease the chances of finding pinworm eggs. ?A series of three specimen collections are recommended.??The best time to collect a specimen is first thing in the morning, before the patient gets out of bed. Inside each collection tube is a paddle with a sticky side. Wearing gloves, press the sticky side of the paddle against the anal opening.
