Clinical Significance
Anaplasmosis/Ehrlichiosis is a tick-borne infection caused by one of several species of Anaplasma/Ehrlichia, an obligate intracellular coccobacillus. It is phagocytized by monocytes or granulocytes, which then multiply to form
membrane-bound aggregates of blue-staining inclusions known as morulae.
