Limitations
This assay measures both the intact and free beta subunits of the hCG molecule.
The use of this assay to monitor or diagnose patients with cancer has not been approved by the FDAor manufacturer of this assay.

0 - 4 mIU/mL


Clinical Significance
A quantitative hCG test may be ordered to diagnose trophoblastic disease or germ cell tumors of the testes or ovary. It may be ordered at regular intervals to monitor the effectiveness of treatment for these conditions and to detect tumor recurrence.
