Limitations
This test is to be used in situations of upper GI tract bleeding or for bleeding other than screening for rectal cancer. If screening for colon rectal cancer, order test code FIT. Hemoccult should not be used for other specimen types (gastric specimens) because the RBCs may not be lysed for accurate analysis
