Instructions
"Use red-capped BBL CultureSwab to collect specimen as follows:
1. Do not obtain throat specimen if epiglottis is inflamed, as sampling may cause serious respiratory obstruction.
2. Do not separate swabs. Gel swab is not acceptable.
3. Depress tongue gently with tongue depressor.
4. Extend sterile swabs between tonsillar pillars and between uvula.
5. Sweep swabs back and forth across posterior pharynx, tonsillar areas, and any inflamed or ulcerated areas.
6. Return swabs to BBL CultureSwab Plus tube. Do not refrigerate.
7. Maintain sterility and forward promptly.
Note: One specimen/day."
