Instructions
1. Use BBL CultureSwab Plus to collect specimen from the vaginal introitus and then from the anorectum area. 2. Patient should be screened at 35 to 37 weeks gestation. 3. Cervical culture is not acceptable. 4. A speculum should not be used for collection. 5. Place swab into transport medium. 6. Forward promptly at ambient temperature only. Note: 1. Indicate if patient is allergic to penicillin. Isolates of Beta Strep Group B from penicillin allergic patients will have a susceptibility performed at an additional charge. 2. Swabs viable for up to 2 days at ambient temperature. 3. Specimen source is required on request form for processing. 4. One specimen/24 hour period/site.
