Instructions
"Axilla, Groin, and Throat (Neonatal)
1. Swab the axilla, groin, and throat using 1 BBL CultureSwab Plus.
2. Return swab to BBL CultureSwab Plus tube.
3. Maintain sterility and forward promptly at ambient temperature only. Do not refrigerate.
Note: 1. Specimen source is required on request form for processing.
2. One specimen/day.
Nose (Non-Neonatal)
1. Insert BBL CultureSwab Plus 1/2 inch into 1 nare and rotate against anterior nasal mucosa for 3 seconds while applying light pressure on the outside of the nose.
2. Repeat this procedure using same swab in second nare. Note that wetting the swab with sterile water prior to collection may help improve recovery in dehydrated elderly patients.
3. Return swabs to BBL CultureSwab Plus tube.
4. Maintain sterility and forward promptly at ambient temperature only. Do not refrigerate.
