Instructions
"Acceptable Specimens:
Endocervical, urethral, and urine specimens only

Specimens must be collected with the BD ProbeTec ET Collection and Transport Kit.
Specimens must arrive within 4 days of collection.

Endocervical (Females Only) (Pink-Label Collection Kit)
1. Use large-tipped cleaning swab to remove excess mucus from cervical os and surrounding mucosa and discard it. 2. Insert second swab 1 cm to 1-112 cm into endocervical canal and rotate vigorously for 30 seconds. Avoid touching vaginal wall when removing swab. 3. Place second swab into transport tube provided in collection kit.
4. Tighten cap on container securely.
5. Label tube with entire patient name and date and time of collection.
6. Forward promptly to laboratory at ambient or refrigerated temperature.
Note: 1. Specimen source is required on request form for processing.
2. One specimen/day.
3. Grossly bloody specimens may interfere with test performance.

Urethral (Males Only) (Blue-Label Collection Kit)
1. Patient should be instructed not to urinate for 1 hour prior to collection.
2. With a rotating movement, insert small swab 2 cm to 4 cm into urethra.
3. Once inserted, rotate swab gently at least I full rotation using sufficient pressure to ensure swab comes into contact with all urethral surfaces. Allow swab to remain inserted for 3 to 5 seconds, and withdraw swab. 4. Place swab into transport tube provided in collection kit.
5. Tighten cap on container securely.
6. Label tube with entire patient name and date and time of collection.
7. Forward promptly to laboratory at ambient or refrigerated temperature.

3. Grossly bloody interfere with test performance.

Urine
1. Patient should be instructed not to urinate for 1 hour prior to collection.
2. Collect the first 15 ml to 60 mL of voided urine into a preservative-free specimen collection cup.
3. Tighten cap on container securely.
4. Label container with entire patient name and date and time of collection.
5. Forward promptly to laboratory at ambient or refrigerated temperature.
