2 tubes of 1.8 mL Buff. Na Citrate, 3.2% (blue top tube)
DO NOT CENTRIFUGE, DO NOT PLACE ON ICE, HAND DELIVER TO LABORATORY
 


Instructions

The following collection instructions must be followed to ensure the accuracy of testing.
1. Perform venipuncture on patient using a 21G or larger needle, releasing the tourniquet as soon as the blood begins to flow.
2. Fill the discard tube (white top tube). Label the tube with a patient label and comment “DISCARD” on tube
3. Fill two 1.8 mL Buff. Na Citrate, 3.2% (blue top tube)
4. Gently invert the tubes by hand at least 5 times to ensure complete mixing of contents.
5. Label all tubes with complete patient identification, collection date and time and collector’s initials.
6. Place all tubes in the transport bag labeled with a SPECIAL HANDLING, a STAT label and a DO NOT SPIN label. Send immediately to LCMH lab.




Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Refrigerated, frozen, centrifuged, hemolyzed or clotted specimens.
Short filled
Do not centrifuge, agitate, open tube or place specimens into the pneumatic tube system.
