Preferred Specimen
20 mL of 24 hour urine preserved in 10 g Boric acid submitted in a plastic, leak-proof urine container

Minimum Volume

Other Acceptable Specimens
24-hour urine preserved in 25 mL of 50% acetic acid or 30 mL of 6N Hcl acid, submitted in a plastic, leak-proof urine container

Instructions
Collect urine with 10 g Boric acid (preferred), or 25 mL of 50% acetic acid or 30 mL of 6N Hcl acid (acceptable). Keep urine refrigerated during collection.
-Mix well and record the total volume on the test request form and urine container.
