Preferred Specimen
One 3 mL light blue top tube
Pediatric Volume: One 1.8 mL pediatrci blue top tube


Minimum Volume
Required for Testing: 1 mL plasma


Instructions
Tube must be filled to etched line to perform testing.

Samples must be centrifuged at 3000rpm for 10 mins. Centrifugation faster than 3000rpm may cause erroneous results. Plasma should be aliquoted into 1mL vials. Freeze within one hour of collection. Samples must remain frozen during transport. Any samples that are received thawed are not suitable for testing.


Transport Temperature
Ambient: < 1 hour after collection
Frozen: > 1 hour after collection (two 1 mL plasma aliquots)


Specimen Stability
Ambient: 4 hours   Frozen (-20° C): Aliquot plasma sample if not within 4 hours 


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Clotted sample, underfilled tube, gross hemolysis
