Clinical Significance
Streptolysin-O is an exotoxin produced by Group A Streptococci. Streptolysin-O antibodies can be measured to determine whether a previous Group A Streptococcus infection has caused a poststreptococcal disease, such as scarlet fever, rheumatic fever, or glomerulonephritis.
