INTERFERING SUBSTANCES: False Positive -- aspirin, indomethacin, phenylbutazone, corticosteroids, reserpine and therapeutic dosages of iron. These should be discontinued two days prior to and during testing.
False negative -- ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) in large doses.
