Preferred Specimen
Freshly voided urine. Test within 2 hours


Minimum Volume
20 ml


Other Acceptable Specimens
After 2 hours urine must be refrigerated until tested.


Transport Temperature
Room Temp up to 2 hours. Refrigerate if testing is delayed > 2 hours.


Specimen Stability
Room Temp up to 2 hours. Refrigerate if testing is delayed > 2 hours, but must return to room temperature before testing.



Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Not refrigerated after 2 hours. Contaminated Urine (with skin cleansers, stool, or vaginal discharge).


Report Available
Results from Point of Care urine testing are interfaced to the EMR.
