Tube 1: Chemistry & Serology
Tube 2: Microbiology
Tube 3: If sent – hold for possible additional orders, or use for Reference or Cytology testing
Tube 4: Cell Count & Differential
(Acceptable to have two orders for Cell Count – use tubes 1 and 4, with separate orders placed for each Cell Count from ordering MD)
If only one CSF tube sent, route as follows or otherwise instructed by ordering MD:
First: Microbiology
Second: Hematology
Third: Cytology
Fourth: Chemistry
