Preferred Specimen
Light green top tube (lithium heparin plasma).
Fasting specimen preferred.


Minimum Volume
Whole blood: 600 uL (one full light-green-top microtainer or two full red-top microtainers).

Serum/plasma: 300 uL.


Other Acceptable Specimens
Gold top (serum separator tube) or Red Top


Instructions
Panel includes: Total Cholesterol, Triglyceride, HDL-, LDL-,
VLDL-Cholesterol, CAD Risk Factor (CHOL/HDL).

Specimen Stability
Refrigerated: 3 days.
Frozen: 3 wks.


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
PATIENT PREPARATION: Prior evening meal should contain no fatty food and should be completed by 6 p.m. for best results. A 12 to 14 hour fasting is necessary.
No alcohol consumption 24 hours prior to collection.
