Indicate type of fluid. Collected by physician. Send to Laboratory IMMEDIATELY. For serous fluids send an EDTA specimen. Due to clotting, a portion of a serous fluid should be poured into a "lavender" top tube containing EDTA and inverted a few times to mix.
