Non-preservative specimen: 4 hours if refrigerated 2 - 8°C. Refrigerated urine should be brought to room temperature prior to analysis.
Preserved specimen [BD transport containers - yellow and red top tubes]: 12 hours (Room Temp or Refrigerated)


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Samples with apparent contamination of stool or other artifacts. Do not add disinfectant or detergent.
Samples with total volume of <2.0 mL (exception neonatal samples or Foley catheter)
Samples outside of stability
Mislabeled samples
