Preferred Specimen
Nasal swab in viral transport media.

Instructions
NASAL
1. Insert swab 1-2 cm into nostril.
2. Rotate swab for 3 seconds.
3. Using the same swab, repeat for second nostril.
4. Immediately place recovered specimen into viral/universal transport media (VCM/UTM).
NASOPHARYNX
1. Gently insert a mini tip swab into the posterior nasopharynx via the nose.
2. Rotate the swab slowly for 3-5 seconds to absorb secretions.
3. Remove the swab and place in transport media.
