Plasma collected in a light blue-top 3.2% sodium citrate tube

Instructions
Correct ratio of blood to citrate is critical. Avoid hemolysis. Tube must be filled completely and mixed gently 8 times.
Samples are kept at room temperature and centrifuged to obtain platelet poor plasma within 4 hours of collection. The centrifuged sample must be tested within 4 hours of collection.
If testing is delayed more than 4 hours, separate the platelet poor plasma into a labeled polypropylene tube and freeze.
Spin time to obtain platelet poor plasma depends on the centrifuge speed.
RPM spin time for PPP:
2500 - 3500 for 15 minutes
3600 for 10 minutes
5100 for 5 minutes
5100 - 7100 for 3 minutes
