GUTHRIE CLINIC LAB, CORNING, TROY, TOWANDA: Plasma collected in a lavender-top EDTA tube
CORTLAND: Plasma collected in a green-top lithium heparin plasma separator tube (PST)
LOURDES: Whole blood collected in a green sodium heparin tube

Minimum Volume

0.5 mL

Instructions

Place the specimen on ice IMMEDIATELY after collection and deliver IMMEDIATELY to the laboratory. The plasma must be removed from the cells within 15 minutes of collection.

REGIONAL OFFICES:
1. Specimens should be put on ice immediately after collection.
2. Centrifuge specimen.
3. Aliquot plasma into plastic transport tube. Keep on ice.
4. Freeze plasma immediately.
5. Transport to the laboratory frozen.
