Clinical Significance
Chikungunya virus is a mosquito-transmitted alphavirus. Symptoms include fever, severe arthralgia, rash, and headache. Detection of Chikungunya virus antibodies is a reliable indicator of Chikungunya virus infection. IgM detection suggests infection within the previous 3 months. IgG detection suggests infection at any time in the recent or distant past.
