Clinical Significance
Useful for confirming the presence of anti-platelet antibodies when post-transfusion purpura occurs 5-7 days following blood transfusion, investigating neonatal isoimmune thrombocytopenia, investigating autoimmune thrombocytopenia (e.g., idiopathic thrombocytopenia or systemic lupus erythematosus), and determining alloimmunization in patients refractory to platelet transfusions.
