Clinical Significance
Tissue cycloxgenase (COX) 2 is an enzyme expressed in the cytoplasm of many cells types. COX2 overexpression has been associated with adverse prognosis in carcinomas of the colon, breast, pancreas, and adenocarcinoma of the lung. Its activity, but not its expression level, is inhibited by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents.
