Instructions
Add exactly 4 mL random urine to a Myoglobin Transport tube within 1 hour of collection. Freeze and ship frozen. (Transport tube# 170764 available through Client Supply).
Exactly 4 mL random urine in the Myoglobin Transport tube is required to achieve the required pH >8.0; more than 4 mL of urine will lower the pH outside the acceptable range.

Clinical Significance
The breakdown of skeletal muscle (rhabdomyolysis) releases myoglobin. Very high concentrations of myoglobin may increase the risk of acute renal failure.
