Specimen Stability

Specimens can be kept at room temperature for up to 12 hours. For hemogram, refrigerate at 4°C for up to 48 hours. Do not freeze. CHOMP Hematology Dept stores samples for a maximum of 24 hours.



Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Gross hemolysis, clots, frozen

Limitations
For patients with cold agglutinins, keep tube warm after drawing and during transport.
