Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Gross hemolysis, lipemia, or icterus; interfering substances: ascorbic acid (50 mg/dL); IgG (3000 mg/dL), failure to follow collection and handling instructions.

Clinical Significance
Cholesterol measurements are used in the diagnosis and treatment of atherosclerotic coronary artery disease, and the diagnosis of metabolic disorders involving lipids and lipoproteins.
High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol is used to evaluate the risk of developing coronary heart disease (CHD). The risk of CHD increases with lower HDL cholesterol concentrations.
