Albumin = 0.2 mL plasma
Testosterone, SHBG = 0.5 mL serum


Instructions
Routine venipuncture.
Collect two 5 mL Red/Gold top serum separator tubes.


Specimen Stability
Albumin = Refrigerate, stable 48 hours;   stable 8 hours at room temperature;  stable >48 hours frozen
SHBG = Refigerate, stable 7 days


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
insufficient quantity;  hemolysis or lipemia;  failure to follow stability requirements


Methodology
Albumin = Dye binding - BCG
Testosterone Total = Electrochemiluminescence immunoassay
SHBG = Electrochemiluminescence immunoassay
Testosterone free = calculated

TSTFC = Testosterone, Free cannot be ordered on a pediatric
patient less than 18 years old.

Female => 18 years old 0.328 - 2.250 %
Male => 18 years old 1.470 - 3.210 %
