Preferred Specimen

24 hour urine collection. Measure and record total volume.

Instructions

Instruct the patient to void at the beginning of the collection period and discard the specimen. Then collect all urine in 24-hour dark plastic urine container including the final specimen voided at the end of the collection period. Refrigerate the specimen during collection. Record the date and time the collection started and the date and time the collection finished.

Methodology
Two point rate:The difference in reflection density is proportional to the concentration of creatinine present in the sample.
