Urinalysis Complete
Test CodeLAB348
Alias/See Also
Standard Urinalysis; Routine Urinalysis
CPT Codes
"81003 for Macroscopic (dipstick) urinalysisIf reflex microscopic urinalysis is performed: 81001"
Includes
"Appearance; clarity; color; bilirubin; blood; glucose; ketones; leukocyte esterase; nitrites; pH; protein; specific gravity; urobilinogen. Confirmation of the semiquantitative test glucose will be performed for reducing substances when the age of the patient is less than 2 years old.
Based on the results of the urine chemical (dipstick) analysis, laboratory established decision rules are applied to determine if a microscopic examination is required.
Any of the following criteria reflex to microscopic analysis:
Turbidity of specimen
pH: =8.0
Nitrite: Positive
Blood: Small-large
Protein: =30 mg/dL
At any time, the physician may order the microscopic examination regardless of the results of the dipstick.
For a complete urinalysis (urine chemistry and microscopic) the following tests must be ordered together:
UACO: Urinalysis Chemistry Only
UAMO: Urinalysis Microscopic Only
