Preferred Specimen
" One 4.5ml light green top (lithium heparin) tube or one 5ml Red/gold top serum separator tube. "


Instructions
For patients receiving tobramycin via conventional dosing methods peak and trough drug monitoring should begin after a steady state is achieved (usually after 3–4 doses). Samples for peak concentrations should be collected 30 minutes after intravenous infusion.


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Specimen collected at inappropriate time


Methodology
Two point rate:The assay is based on competition between tobramycin in the sample and TOB labeled with G6PDH antibody sites.
