"Routine venipuncture or fingerstick
Collect one 4.0ml Lavender top (EDTA) tube or 2 microtubes (EDTA) for babies"


Specimen Stability

Specimens can be kept at room temperature for up to 12 hours. For hemogram, refrigerate at 4°C for up to 48 hours. Do not freeze. CHOMP Hematology Dept stores samples for a maximum of 24 hours.


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Specimen >12 hours old

Emergency room: 1 hour; nursery: 1 hour
