Limitations
Note: Do not use this test for requests for Hepatitis B Core Antibody IgM.
Although the IgG and IgM antibodies are included in the Hepatitis B Antibody Total value, they are not reported as separate values and cannot be used to suggest a current, acute or recent Hepatitis B infection. IgM testing must be ordered as a separate test.


Clinical Significance
This test is useful in the detection of Hepatitis B infection.  Often detectable before or at the onset of symptoms.
