Do not use a syringe for collection. The specimen will be rejected ifclotted, visibly hemolyzed, icteric, or improperly filled. Failure to follow porper colelction and handling instructions.

Clinical Significance
The D-Dimer is the only marker for thrombotic disorders. Otherphysiological and clinical conditions may lead to high levels. Theseinclude age, pregnancy, hematomas, infectious or inflammatory syndromes,and cancers. Measurement can be of use as an aid in the diagnosis ofDIC.
