Instructions
"Collect one 10ml Red top, no-additive clot tube
Clot specimenfor one hour in 37° water bath. Separate serum in room temperature centrifuge carriers. Transport at room temperature"


Specimen Stability
Room temperature, stable 3 days; do not refrigerate or freeze


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Hemolysis; lipemia; icterus; refrigerated or frozen specimen; specimen in serum separator tube


Methodology
Visual inspection for the formation of Cryoglobulin. Cryocrit calculation, if positive. CPT: 82595

Clinical Significance
The cryocrit is primarily intended for following a patient with previously defined and quantitated cryoglobulins. The cryocrit may consist of cryoglobulins, fibrins, or mixtures of cryoglobulins and fibrin.
