Instructions
Blood by routine venipuncture in pink top (EDTA) tube (preferred) or blood in lavender top (EDTA) tube and blood in red top, no-additive clot tube.


Specimen Stability
7 mL whole blood at 20-25°C. (Min: 3 mL)


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Improperly labeled specimen; gross hemolysis or lipemia; container damaged and leaking; improper transport (too hot/partially frozen red cells); specimen older than 48 hours unrefrigerated; insufficient quantity; bacterial contamination

Clinical Significance
Use to detect in vitro sensitization of RBCs. The presence of alloantibodies, autoantibodies, and complement components can be detected by antihuman globulin serum in the antiglobulin test.
