Routine venipuncture. 7 ml Blood in pink top (EDTA) tube (preferred) or 4 ml blood in lavender top (EDTA) tube and 7-10 ml blood in red top, no-additive clot tube.
Specimen Stability
Refrigerate, stable 48 hours.
Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Improperly labeled specimen; gross hemolysis or lipemia; container damaged and leaking; improper transport (too hot/partially frozen red cells); insufficient quantity; specimen older than 48 hours unrefrigerated
