Preferred Specimen
CSF and serum separator tube.  Serum specimen should be drawn within 48 hours of CSF collection.  Centrifuge and separate CSF to remove cellular material.  Separate serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. 


Minimum Volume
Transfer 1 mL CSF and 1 mL serum. (Min: 0.5mL CSF and 0.5mL serum)


Transport Temperature
Refrigerated.


Specimen Stability
Ambient:  8 hours; Unacceptable; Refrigerated:  14 days; Frozen:  6 months (if frozen within 24 hours)

Performed Sun-Sat


Report Available
Within 24 hours or receipt of sample.
