Sodium Citrate Blue Top


Minimum Volume
Blue Top Must be Completely Filled


Instructions
Invert tube immediately after collection. ONLY ordered by lab personnel.

Separate the plasma using a plastic transfer pipette and transfer to a plastic tube without disturbing the buffy coat.

Biohazard Bag


Transport Temperature
Ambient up to 4 hours.  However, if specimen is not able to be assayed immediately, it should be placed on ice or frozen and shipped.  It must be run with 4-6 hours.


Specimen Stability
All blue top, coag specimens are discarded after 2 days.


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Clotted, hemolyzed, or quality not sufficient specimens
