Testing is ONLY for patients >2 years of age
Must be centrifuged within 2 hours after collection and pulled off cells.

Limitations

Testing is ONLY for patients >2 years of age. Not used for diagnosing HIV in children under 2 years old, primarily because maternal antibodies can persist, leading to false positives.
