Clinical Significance
This is a supplemental Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) differentiation test, utilizing an immunochromatophic assay, that detects antibodies to HIV-1 and HIV-2 in serum, EDTA plasma, or Lithium Heparin plasma. This assay is intended for use as an additional, more specific test to confirm the presence of antibodies to HIV types 1 and 2, for specimens found to be repeatedly reactive by diagnostic screening procedures such as the HIV ½ Ag/Ab Fourth Generation Assay.
