Instructions
Using a 21 gauge needle or larger (i.e. 20 gauge) first collect a discard tube (plain red top tube) with at least 2 mL of blood. Next, using the 2 mL Greiner (special blue tops), partial-fill vacuette tubes to the black line (1/2 filled). Gently invert at least 5 times.

Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)

Reference Range
Test results are reported in P2Y12 % Inhibition
The pre-drug reference Range is 194 – 418 PRU.
After administration of drug, the mean change in the PRU is a decrease of 185 units. The response to P2Y12 inhibitors has considerable inter-individual variation.
The acceptable range for a post drug value is PRU <230 for patients with coronary artery stents, based on a large clinical study. The “Ideal” range PRU for a patient who has a stent and is on standard dose Clopidogrel is between 187 and 131 PRU which corresponds to 40-60% inhibition.
Presurgical PRU goal is >237.
