Two 2.7 mL Blue tube and Plain Red 6.0 mL

Instructions
NOTE: Test is available at BDMC and BUMCP (specimen cannot be transported from other sites). Using a 21 gauge needle or larger (i.e. 20 gauge) first collect a discard tube (plain red top tube) with at least 2 mL of blood. Next, using the 2 mL Greiner (special blue tubes), partial-fill vacuette tubes to the black line (1/2 filled). Gently invert at least 5 times. Hand deliver all 3 tubes to the lab within one hour of collection. DO NOT send through the telelift system.

Clinical Significance
Test results are reported in Aspirin Reaction Units (ARU).
•350 - 549 ARU - Platelet dysfunction detected secondary to therapeutic effect of aspirin.
•550 - 700 ARU - Platelet dysfunction not detected.
