Clinical Significance
Amphetamines are sympathomimetic amines that stimulate the central nervous system. Amphetamines are approved for use in ADHD, narcolepsy, and obesity, but are highly addictive and widely abused, and consequently, are controlled substances. Abuse of amphetamines lead to medical, psychological, and social consequences. This assay confirms the presence of amphetamines, methamphetamine, MDA, and MDMA in urine by GC-MS.
