Clinical Significance

This test is an FDA cleared in-vitro diagnostic test using RT-PCR for the qualitative detection and differentiation of Bordetella pertussis and Bordetella parapertussis nucleic acids from nasopharyngeal (NPS) specimens from patients with signs and symptoms of Bordetella infection of the respiratory tract.  Performance characteristics for this test were determined by Banner Health/Laboratory Sciences of Arizona.
