Clinical Significance
Low platelets with low IPF suggests a bone marrow production disorder. Low platelets with high IPF suggests peripheral destruction (ITP, TTP, DIC, autoimmune) or bone marrow recovery. Trending of serial IPF measurements is recommended when evaluating for bone marrow response.
