Preferred Specimen

Nasopharyngeal swab or anterior nasal swab in VTM or UTM.

Instructions

Insert swab in the posterior nasopharynx , rotate 3-5 times, remove and place in the tube with Xpert Nasopharyngeal Sample Colection Kit for Viruses. Place identification labels on specimen, your initials, date/time.

Room temperature up to 48 hours. Refrigerated up to 7 days.

Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)

Swab must be broken off into tube. Specimen will be rejected if it is not.

Limitations
