Preferred Specimen
Collect 2-4 dry sterile synthetic swabs (including but not limited to
polyester, nylon or Dacron) with a plastic, wood or thin aluminum shaft,
to swab the lesion vigorously to collect adequate DNA. Do NOT use cotton
swabs as cotton can inhibit real-time PCR assays.Place swabs in sterile,
dry tubes. Approval from MDPH needed BEFORE sample is sent to them.
