Specimen Stability
Samples can be stored up to 10 days at 2-8°C. For longer storage, samples should be frozen within eight hours of collection. Frozen sera are stable for 1 month.

Clinical Significance
This test is used to confirm and identify the presence of an abnormal paraprotein (e.g. myeloma protein).
