Anaerobic cultures will not be performed unless swab is received in anaerobe transport media, available in the microbiology lab ext. 35954
Include both swabs.
For wound/abscess cultures, a syringe with the needle is preferred. If a swab is used then after suspected site is swabbed using a swab culturette, place swabs directly into the swab container so that the swab portion is seated in the foam and the other end is connected to the red top. Do not break off the swab into the swab container.
